0038
- What type of woman is attractive to a man
who presents the Moon and Venus in Virgo?
Such men are inclined to choose a woman whose femininity is not
pronounced. He will want to have a woman at his side who is dedicated to
her career, dynamic and highly organised; young looking, almost
adolescent, but not very sensual. In the course of his life, he will opt
for women who are inferior or superior to himself. He will express
affection in a calculated, clear-headed way.
0037
- What does the passage of Uranus in the
eleventh house in opposition to Mars in the fifth mean for a woman?
The sex drive and aggression of this
person will be unable to find an adequate outlet, causing introversion.
The role of Mars will make the figure of the partner a source of
problems that become evident in the sexual arena, which will undergo a
dramatic tailing off and the woman will be or feel herself to be
responsible. The time he spends with his male friends, symbolised by the
transit, will prove to be rather painful, however, because the presence
of Uranus in the eleventh house predisposes him to make space for new
friendships more consonant with himself. The subject will experience
moments of being very extrovert and dynamic and others of solitude,
apathy and indecision over the choices she must make. The aspect also
represents an accident during a journey, perhaps in a car, that the
subject or her partner or a friend may undergo during the period of the
transit.
0036
- How should the transit of Uranus in
conjunction with Venus in the fifth house and trigon with Neptune be
interpreted?
The changes that accompany the transit of the planet will be immediately
obvious from the aesthetical point of view, the renewal and improvement
of the appearance, the clothes and the figure. The person’s emotional
sphere will be affected by changes caused by a greater emotional
assuredness that will allow them to be more detached and free in their
relationship with a partner. The passage of harmonious Uranus across
Venus in the fifth house represents the possibility for the subject to
find new passions, outside the ordinary and particularly intense, that
will permit them to feel once against the sensations felt in adolescence.
The trigon of Uranus with Neptune will prompt the subject to take the
right decisions, relying only on their own instincts, their own emotions,
which will be positive, without allowing themselves to be influence by
the judgement of others.
0035
- Which planetary orbits should be taken in
to consideration in the birth chart?
Conjunction and opposition: within 10º
Quadrature: within 6º
Trigon: within 8º degrees
Sextile: within 4º
Quincunx: within 8º?
Semi-sextile: within 1º
Semi-quadrature: within 4º
0034
- What does the quadrature that we see
involving Neptune and the radix Moon mean?
Such a dissonant aspect in the birth
chart indicates above all that the subject had a confused mother,
sometimes absent and sometimes psychologically unstable. This naturally
provoked a series of traumas that the person will have to confront in
adulthood. Typically, it will be accompanied by the fear of being
assailed by depression since the person has seen the maternal figure
suffer from it. The woman influenced by this aspect will find it
especially difficult to build up her own female identity: she will
always seem fuzzy at the edges since, being unable to completely follow
the model of the maternal figure, she will try to model her feminine
side on women she met during her childhood who were emotionally
important to her. Women of consequence will tend to flee from this part
of themselves, being unable to feel completely at their ease. A man who
presents a negative Neptune over the Moon will tend to choose a
companion with aforementioned characteristics.
0033
- What is the typical behaviour of a Leo
with Leo Ascendant?
In this case, it is fundamentally important to check the terrestrial
position of the Sun. There would be enormous differences in character,
in fact, depending on whether it was in the first or the twelfth house:
in the former, the person will by nature be more expansive, energetic,
proud, but above all will tend to assert themselves as unique and the
best. If the luminary position is co-significant with Pisces, the
subject will be retiring, introverted and markedly sensitive. In this
case, the leonine vitality will clearly be reduced , the responsibility
which Leo does not hesitate to accept will be cleverly avoided in a
typically Piscean way, but, at the same time, even the pride that
characterises Leo will become less unshakeable, and the subject will
cloak themselves in sweetness.
0032
- In the case of an afflicted third house,
is difficulty can finishing university studies be encountered?
This is symbolically positioned not in the third, but the ninth house,
and therefore it is properly in studying this last that we can analyse
how the subject will cope with university. Above all, it’s vital to
check the presence of planets in this house, not to mention any transits
that may be influential, and this remains true even in the case in which
the house is empty. A potentially negative transit of one of the slow
planets can in fact mean greater difficulties in finishing the cycle of
studies. In the case of one who, for example, presents Pluto in
dissonance in the ninth house, the completion of a degree will be
especially problematic and will require a rather long time, but that
doesn’t mean that it is impossible to achieve. The sector may in fact be
sustained by other favourable transits at the same time on the part of
planets such as Saturn or Uranus, that could be crucial in helping the
subject to finish their studies.
0031
- What does transiting Pluto in quadrature
with Mercury in the seventh house mean?
The period of the transit will be characterised by numerous problems to
do with children. Should they leave home, even when this is the normal
consequence of growing up, it will be experienced by the subject in a
decidedly traumatic way. There is also the possibility that it is the
parent who has left or neglected the children for various reasons: such
a separation will be accompanied by a vague sense of guilt. Mercury also
represents business, therefore it is necessary throughout the period of
the transit to pay particular attention to the stipulations in a
contract which could be sources of deception, especially on the part of
relatives, children or friends. From the mental point of view, the
transit brings a diminution in intuition, or may lead the subject to be
distrustful since they lack faith in themselves.
0030
- What will be the result of the transit of
Pluto across birth Venus?
The person will experience an exultant moment of profound
self-confidence. This will become more intense and she will not be
disposed to compromise in order to be appreciated by her nearest and
dearest. This excellent feeling about herself can only translate into
emotional security and the image she gives out to the world will be that
of an attractive, seductive and charismatic woman.
0029
- What is the significance of Pluto in
opposition to the Sun positioned in the twelfth house?
Above all this is demonstrated in the ambivalent relationships that the
subject will negotiate with male figures. The unconscious rejection by
the father at the moment of birth will translate into continuously
alternating between love and hate towards the world of men. If the
subject is a woman, she will tend to choose men and work situations that,
although profitable from some points of view, will subject her to
constant humiliation. The sixth house is not a consonant dwelling for
Pluto since the planet is forced to submit his enormous energy to the
rigid rules of daily life, negating the spur towards individuality that
characterises him. This can only lead to an intolerable situation since
whatever career the person chooses, she will never feel herself
sufficiently appreciated in equal measure to the effort she puts into
it. The opposition of the Sun, which will aggravate further the constant
sense of dissatisfaction, may, however, spur her on to greater
achievements, especially if other planets in the chart reinforce that
drive.
0028
- How should we interpret Pluto transiting
in the fourth house forming quadrature with Mars in the seventh and
trigon with Jupiter in the eighth?
A basic analysis would reveal above all some complications in the family
arena, given the presence of the planet in the fourth house and the
negative involvement of Mars and the seventh. It is likely that the
crisis will be with the partner, who may force the subject into an
unwilling rather than a mutually agreed separation. This however could
in fact prove advantageous from the financial point of view, predicted
by the symbolism of Jupiter in the eighth house.
0027
- What is the symbolic meaning of the
transit of Pluto in the tenth house in opposition to Jupiter in the
fourth?
The subject will tend to want at all costs to fulfil themselves through
their career, at the cost of the family who, true to the symbolism of
Jupiter, will react vociferously in a rather strong manner. A Jupiter
afflicted by Pluto can have a number of different meanings, however: it
will encourage a tendency towards a pessimistic outlook and will also
decisively influence the health of the subject or a member of their
family.
0026
- How should we read the presence of Pluto
in the fourth and tenth house?
The planet finds itself ill at ease
in the co-significant house of Cancer, which so loves tranquillity and
security. In fact, it will lead to frequent profound upsets within the
walls of the home which, although presaging renewal, will cause
substantial ill-feeling for the person. The tenth house can on the other
hand become an excellent headquarters in which the planet reinforces the
already conspicuous tendency of Capricorn to pursue objectives. If
however the house is already occupied, especially by strong planets,
among which, for example, Mars, the subject will be inclined towards
developing a marked arrogance which, unless checked, may bring ruin in
their career.
0025
- Can one read in the opposition
of Pluto to the tenth house a certain difficulty in finding work?
The blockage is not met so much in
the hunt for work, which may be found without problems if there are
positive transits by other planets, so much as in the difficulty in
carrying it out. Throughout the duration of the transit, the subject may
encounter profound dissatisfaction in the professional arena, and since,
within the symbolism of the tenth house there are restrictions to
independence, they will also experience many limitations in this area,
not least from the partner or the family, symbolised by the fourth
house, in which Pluto, being in opposition to the tenth, would be housed.
0024
- You have said that in the cases
that you have studied that you have seen that the Moon in Leo makes a
person more masculine and can give rise to female homosexuality: is it
therefore legitimate to believe that homosexuality is in a certain sense
viewed by astrology (as indeed by many philosophical disciplines in this
world) as, please forgive the term which is meant only as way of putting
it, a type of anomaly or a discordant expression of femininity? Because
the Moon in Leo loses all its capacity to express its femininity as it
should, am I right? I ask only to understand, not to put labels on
people.
I would say that “a discordant
expression of femininity” is the appropriate phrase. The Moon in Leo and
even more the Moon in Aries are indications of the virilization of
femininity for a woman, exactly because the Sun is housed in Leo and
exalted in Aries, which as a result makes a Sun-Moon conjunction that
symbolises the union of the masculine side with the feminine, thus
impeding the subject in distinguishing the two sides and therefore in
identifying their own physical and sexual roles.
0023
- Coming back to the subject of
female homosexuality: I got hold of and studied the charts of two of my
gay friends and was amazed to see that both had the Moon in conjunction
with Saturn in Leo, in spite of the fact they were of different signs,
born in different years and in different places. I therefore ask myself:
is it possible that the Moon, finding herself in so masculine a sign as
Leo, further looses her femininity in conjunction with Saturn? The two
women in question share a tendency to fall in love with women much older
than themselves and I imagine that this is down to Saturn.
Your email once again confirms my theory on homosexuality in as much as
having the Moon in Leo means to once again have the Moon-Sun conjunction,
given that the Sun is housed in Leo and therefore, for a woman, as you
say, there is indeed a virilization. As far as Saturn is concerned,
several cases I have analysed have the planet linked to one of the
luminaries, often to both, though Saturn can be considered bisexual or
neuter. For example, in the mythology we find him as Cronos, but also in
the ruins of Athens; in his symbolism of authority, law, conscience,
stoicism, age and solitude etc the roles are representative of both
sexes, or rather, those roles or phases are asexual.
0022
- I would like to “piggy back” on
the question of homosexuality and ask you how come it is increasing,
given the number of homosexuals is forever growing?
I don’t think there has been, in
effect, a rise in homosexuality, I believe rather than the passages of
Neptune in Aquarius and Pluto in Sagittarius have caused the exaltation
of freedom, freedom in all areas, including sex, with the result that
these days homosexuality has come to be experienced and accepted more
freely and therefore with less guilt, with the consequence that people
have finally succeeded in living their homosexuality openly and for this
reason it seems that the number has increased. Pisces is a sign in which
the Moon is in exaltation; the Moon, which symbolises femininity and the
family, is transiting Uranus, which, with its innovation and revolution,
gave rise to the realisation of gay marriages in 2005.
0021
- In examining the partner of a
heterosexual woman, we look to the Sun and Mars, so where do we look in
the case of a woman who is homosexual? Venus and the Moon? And what are
the strongest indicators of female homosexuality?
The reply can only be a generic one: to supply an exhaustive one it
would be necessary to write a “novel.” The general indicators are the
Sun-Moon aspects, both positive and negative (though that’s not to say
that everyone must be homosexual) in as much as they represent the
individual’s difficulty in identifying themselves with the parent of the
same sex. If the aspects are positive, the parents come out neither one
nor the other and therefore the child has no precise model of the
masculine or feminine in which their self is reflected. If they are
instead negative, the contrast between the parents creates tension in
the child, who tends to identify with the more affectionate parental
figure, and this can be seen in the collateral aspects of the luminaries,
of Venus, Mars and Pluto. If the woman is homosexual, and she takes the
masculine role, we look to Venus and the Moon, if she is the woman, then
we look to Mars and the Sun.
0020
- I was wondering which planets
govern airplanes and whether Mars is the planet which in transit
determines death.
If you read my book or articles on the site, you will find the reply,
but in brief, I will say that, in my view, Uranus is the planet
connected with airplanes and flight (in mythology, Uranus was the god of
the sky). If in a birth chart, Uranus is afflicted this may mean a
predisposition on the part of the individual to meet a violent end, such
as a plane crash. Among those people I have analysed, Uranus in transit
formed a negative aspect and, furthermore, Mars in transit almost always
produced a negative aspect, In a high percentage of cases, it formed
opposition, quadrature or quincunx to radix Uranus.
0019
- I was wondering whether a rather
afflicted sixth house with no “active” planets and an empty tenth house
could be an impediment to success at work for an individual and whether
such charts could be analysed by observing other planets and aspects.
An afflicted radix sixth house, and therefore with some planet
positioned to receive negative aspects from others, can certainly be
indicative of difficulties in the daily working life. If on the other
hand it is empty, no problems will be created as long as the sign in
which they are found is in contrast with the house, for example Pisces,
Gemini etc. The same applies to the tenth house, which is more
specifically relevant to work and career and personal autonomy.
Furthermore, the Sun is also important, as is the Moon for a woman or
for a man who carries out typically feminine work.
0018
- So it’s easier to fulfil oneself
on the work front when the house is empty or at least has as few
negative aspects as possible?
Yes, but in a birth chart, it’s necessary to also keep in mind the
possibility of planets positioned in Virgo, co-significant with the
sixth house, and of related aspects; but, above all, of the tenth house
and of planets in Capricorn, co-significant to the tenth and related
aspects. Not forgetting the importance of the luminaries, as I said
before.
0017
- How should we broadly interpret
the fact that in a birth chart all the signs are in opposing houses (such
as Gemini in the ninth, Cancer in the tenth etc)? Isn’t it perhaps as if
the person lives in a permanent state of opposition?
Yes, opposition that creates tension, insofar as they are never
“superficially” satisfied with what they are doing in the present
moment.
0016
- I have observed that some birth
charts have all the planets and even all the aspects completely
positioned in one single sector: to the left or right, high or low, and
I was wondering what this very partial distribution could mean.
If the majority of the planets are to be found in a superior semi-circle
it means that the personality will tend towards renewal,
self-affirmation, without regard to the past, in other words, a rootless
individual. If the planets are in an inferior semi-circle, the person
will demonstrate dependent behaviour, living by the accepted rules of
their society. If the planets are dislocated in a left semi-circle, the
subject will be inclined to dynamism and self-realisation. If the
planets are dislocated in a right semi-circle, the person will be more
contemplative and will need the reassurance of others to be able to
succeed and express themselves.
0015
- Can Mars in the fourth house in
opposition to Mercury signify “distance” between father and son and
verbal aggression, either received or aimed at the opposite sex?
No, the opposition of Mars to
Mercury does not symbolise a distant father, but rather a difficulty in
having a communicative relationship with the male figure, that can offer
erupt in squabbles, in furious arguments either directed at or provoked
by the subject, especially during adolescence. Mars in the fourth house
symbolises the aggression that the subject experiences if the planet is
afflicted, or which is present in the family environment if positive.
0014
- Can the Moon bound to Neptune signify a
mother who undergoes transformation during her lifespan?
Yes, but to be more precise, we must
make clear that it signifies the subject’s experience of the
transformation of the mother, independently of the fact that she really
does change, though normally, of course, the two are coincident.
0013
- Why are transits of planets on
themselves not taken into consideration, for example “Mars in opposition
to Mars”? (See also reply No: 0002
and No: 0008)
I return for a last time to question
No. 2 to make clear that disregarding a planet in aspect to itself is my
way of interpreting the transits, for the reasons explained above, and
to make my point of view even clearer, I will give further explanation,
though everyone is free to do as they believe best. Let’s say the
planets are human beings and that Mars is Martino, Pluto – Paolo, Venus
– Valeria and so on…. we know that if Martino, let’s say, is in the city
of Libra, he cannot also be in the city of Aries because he can’t be in
two places at once. Martino can visit both places but only one at a
time. In the same way, he can’t meet himself, come to blows with himself,
argue with himself or make war against himself. Martino, on the other
hand, can get on well with Valeria or meet with Paolo exactly because
they are people with their own characteristics who can get on well with
him or not, as the case may be.
0012
- What can the passage of Uranus
in conjunction in the ascendant and in trigon to the Sun bring?
If Uranus does not at the same time present other negative aspects, I
would say that the transit is positive and that in the span of the two
years, the time that the planet takes to complete the transit, there
will be changes, perhaps sudden, regarding work, the male figure and the
contacts made, image projected and the way that the subject is seen by
others. Changes that can arise due to the opportunities that present
themselves that she takes advantage of on the fly, but above all those
changes that she decides upon, to attain her own subjective well-being.
I could write more, but I’ll stop there.
0011
- Examining my transits, I discovered that
one of the slow planets gave me a quadrature with a luminary with a gap
of 8 degrees. Reading your book on transits, I was amazed that I felt it,
from almost all points of view, almost more now (perhaps only because I’m
more aware of it?) in respect to when the gap was greatly inferior. Is
this possible? Isn’t 8 degrees too much for the effect of the transit to
be felt so strongly?
Eight degrees really is too much. I
have however observed that often the subject who receives the passage of
slow planets, in particular Neptune and Pluto, becomes aware of the
transit only after it has happened, when it is already over, exactly
because the symbolism of these two planets are profound and it takes
time for the unconscious forces of the individual to manage to overtake
the conscious and therefore become externalised, and thus is only fully
aware of the change once the transit is finished. It is rare for a
person to be aware of the transit, I’m still speaking of slow planets,
before the heavenly body has reached, at least once, the exact orbital
length of the radix planet.
0010
- I read in a book that the
dialectic relationship between Taurus and Scorpio, as it is between two
opposing signs, is, in a certain way, inherently to do with possession,
both in the material sense (houses, money etc) and in personal
relationships. I was wondering if that might also include the desire to
keep situations as they are, when life (as it is normal that it should)
often pushes us toward change.
Yes even if, in my view, in the
majority of occasions, it is we who secretly create the paths of change.
0009
- Which planet is responsible for making
people these days ever less trustworthy?
Obviously, it is necessary to look
at the birth chart, however, in general, I can say that the presence of
Pluto in Sagittarius, Neptune in Aquarius and Uranus in Pisces indicates
a predisposition towards curiosity, nosiness and a lack of depth and
coherence. So, yes, untrustworthiness – but not malice.
0008
- How is it that in your book “The
Symbolism of Transits” you made no mention of the transit of a planet on
itself, for example “Mars in opposition to Mars”? (See also reply No: 0002
)
To return to the reply already given,
seeing the number of similar questions, I would add that it is necessary
to be careful not to confuse the symbolism of the aspects that
transiting planets make with the other radical planets at the moment in
which they transit on themselves. For example, let’s suppose that radix
Mars has been in quadrature with Pluto; when transiting Mars arrives in
the birth position, it will reform the quadrature with Pluto, when it
transits in quadrature with itself it will at the same time be in
opposition to Pluto: the subject will experience psychological, sexual
and physical impotence, as well as annoying incidents and surprises,
owing to the aspect that it forms with Pluto and not to the fact that it
is forming aspects with itself. To conclude, one can say that the proof
comes when Mars forms the last quadrature with itself, because it is
also in conjunction with Pluto and here, the subject will feel powerful,
full of energy and able to impose their will, and in addition they will
encounter lucky situations or meetings.
0007
- How is it possible to resolve an
opposition between two important planets (such as, for example, the Sun
and the Moon) in a birth chart? For my part, I have noticed that at many
times and above all in certain places, I feel myself “pulled” between
two possible courses of action/reaction, which provokes a strong feeling
of unease and most times I remain blocked and unable to take advantage
of either of the two planets involved.
This way of feeling is characteristic of opposition but it is the
interpretation of the birth chart that shows us the way to resolve,
destroy or remain “pulled” between one pole or the other: it will be
enough to look at the other aspects that the two opposing planets
receive, for example: if the Sun is in opposition to the Moon and the
Moon is sextile or trigon to other planets, while the Sun is receiving
none, this means that the subject reflects the Moon and therefore the
feminine side will be able to react and to build, while finding greater
difficulty in self-realisation at work or in social life.
0006
- What does having two isolated planets in a birth chart mean?
Isolated planets in a birth chart are always considered to be loose
canons which explode or fizzle out according to the transit received.
Personally, I have ascertained that the person always has difficulty in
“using” isolated planets or luminaries during the difficult times in
life. For example, the isolated radical Moon will only allow the person
to express femininity when it is stimulated by some transit, because
usually the subject will tend to operate with the rest of the planets
and radical aspects because it is simpler and more natural for her. As a
consequence, especially with female subjects, it becomes difficult to
experience her female essence (and all the symbolism of the Moon as
mother, woman, house etc) because it is experienced as a see-saw in a
discontinuous way, passing from moments of euphoria and extreme
sensitivity to moments of depression and fear which can however be
contained of exalted in the context of the birth chart.
0005
- Which are the star signs of the most jealous people?
The most jealous are Taureans and Scorpios, generally, but also everyone
who has Mars and Venus afflicted in their birth charts.
0004
- Which is the sign of the Jewish
people?
Jews and all Arabs are under the sign of Scorpio, according to Lisa
Morpurgo.
0003
- Is it true that whoever has
Mercury in Virgo enjoys gossiping? And whoever has Mercury in
Sagittarius is superficial?
Someone who has Mercury in Virgo can be distinguished by their precise
and analytical way of communication and that can be rather heavy for a
listener. Mercury in Sagittarius does mean superficiality and
ingenuousness. But in both cases, it is important to look at the aspects
that that planet is receiving. As far as the gossip of the Zodiac is
concerned, we must also look to Jupiter, who is significant in speech,
and, especially if afflicted by Pluto in a birth chart, “enjoys” not
only to gossip but also putting the stamp of malice on whatever is said.
0002
- How come in your book “The
Symbolism of Transits” you make no mention of the transit of a planet on
itself, for example “Mars in opposition to Mars”?
In my view, there cannot be an aspect in which two poles, for example
Mars in opposition to Mars, can be created by the same planet because at
the moment in which Mars, for example in Libra, moves to Aries to make
the opposition, it leaves a “black hole” in Libra and therefore
opposition or any other aspect cannot exist. Furthermore, how could one
read on one side the symbolism of Mars if they are in opposition to
exactly the same symbolism? Aspects are always with different planets,
when the symbols they represent are clear and where the can cohabit
harmoniously or struggle bitterly amongst themselves according to the
aspects they form.
0001
- In your book on transits, you
explain the difference between the effect of a planet in either forward
or reverse motion, however I didn’t fully understand whether, when in
reverse, the person ceases to feel their influence, returning, so to
speak, to the state in which they were before the transit arose, as if
it cancelled itself out, or whether the transit becomes, even if
positive, too difficult to cope with.
When the planet is reversing, the person puts their plans aside (if the
transiting planet forms a positive aspect) and the opportunities that
are presented to them are blocked; the person continues to lead their
normal life, as if the first passage had only “superficially” or rather,
theoretically exerted an influence. When the planet resumes forward
motion and changes aspect, all those projects come back into play and
she succeeds in bringing them to fruition and making concrete the
opportunities that were put aside. If a transit is positive, its
symbolism is respected and this is also true of a negative transit,
except that there may be some ambiguity in interpreting the planetary
grouping or the conjunctions, because of the difficulty that the
astrologer may have in deciphering them.
