"That Big, Butch Mars"
by Carla Pretto
Translated by Nick Skidmore

With the athletic
pep and courage typical of the symbolism of Mars, I square up to the
subject: Mars and sexuality. First of all, though, I would like to
illustrate and clarify some of the symbolism of Mars associated with the
topic in questions. |

In Ernesto’s birth
chart, the Mars-Jupiter conjunction, spurious insofar as Mars is in
Pisces while Jupiter is in Aries, is found in the third house and
receives trigon from Pluto with Leo in the eighth house, opposed by
Neptune in Virgo from the ninth house, and quadrature to Mercury in
Sagittarius from the first house. The Sun in positioned in Capricorn (exaltation
of Mars) in the first house, co-significant Aries, and forms trigon with
Uranus in Taurus in the fifth house, and quadrature to M.C. in Libra.
The subject’s overload of energy is channelled through his sexuality,
which leads to premature ejaculation. The feverish and optimistic way in
which Ernesto chases women, Jupiter in the third house in conjunction
with Mars and in trigon to Pluto, allows him to win the consent of many
partners, and he leads the life of a stud. The rapid and fleeting
relations Ernesto conducts with them allows him, on the one hand to
satisfy the impelling need to continuously have sex, but on the other it
prevents him from growing, Mars in the third, co-significant
Gemini-adolescence, and from changing his way of loving, Mars opposed to
Neptune-change, so that at the age of 64 he finds himself still with the
vitality of a twenty year old, but always with the same difficulty in
satisfying his partner, who, after some months or years, leaves him.
Also, the Moon in Libra, co-significant with the seventh house-union,
located in the tenth house-dominion, and opposed to Saturn in Aries in
the fourth house, reflects the strong bond, contrasting and dependent,
that he had with his mother, the only woman he managed to live with. |

In Gaida’s birth chart, we
immediately notice the fine stellar trigon formed by Mars in Sagittarius
in the tenth house, in conjunction with M.C., by Pluto in Cancer in the
sixth house, and by the Sun-Saturn conjunction in Pisces on the cusp of
the second house. Her sex life proved unsatisfying during the honeymoon
when the husband, in the space of five minutes, became excited and
reached orgasm: a bitter disillusion that made Gaida immediately think
of leaving him, but her love for him and his other qualities prevented
her. For this reason, the husband and wife established a sort of
complicity in an unspoken pact (Pluto in trigon to the Sun-Saturn
conjunction) under which the husband completely threw himself into his
work, (Pluto in the sixth house and mars in the tenth house) consuming
almost all his energy to the point that what little remained was barely
enough to satisfy himself through masturbation, while Gaida looked
around, Mars in Sagittarius, for other men with whom she could have
satisfying relations, also because she found the subterfuge and the
illicit nature of the encounters additionally arousing, symbolised by
Pluto harmoniously bound, par excellence, to the two masculine planets.

Lorenzo’s birth chart
presents an accumulation of planets in Scorpio, domicile of Mars and
Pluto, in the eleventh house, co-significant Aquarius. Mars is
positioned in Gemini in the sixth house (both centres of
Mercury-adolescence) and forms quadrature to Pluto in Virgo in the ninth
house and trigon to M.C The planets in Scorpio and the sextile that
Pluto makes with the Sun reflect Lorenzo’s notable sexual and energy
reserves; he is gifted with the fine looks and great charm of Scorpio
with the mental openness of Aquarius, so he succeeds in conquering
nearly all the women who catch his eye. Sometimes, he will find himself
with two lovers, plus his wife, with whom he conducts rapid and fleeting
relations. He enjoys himself and gives enjoyment to others by relating,
Jupiter in Scorpio, the stories of these sexual encounters down to the
most intimate detail (Mars in the sixth and Pluto in Virgo) and he does
it shamelessly and with irony, attesting that he is not aroused by
penetration, but prefers anal sex or stimulation by pornography.
Notwithstanding that, his profound dissatisfaction is transparent
because the affliction of Mars with Pluto and in the signs of Mercury
and the grouping of planets in the eleventh house, again rational values,
reveal his sterility and therefore his incapacity to satisfy his wife in
her wish to become a mother. |

In Lucia’s birth chart, we
see that the triangle formed by Mars in Pisces, in quadrature to the Sun
in Capricorn and Pluto in Libra, placed respectively in the eighth,
fourth and second house: it can be deduced from this triangle that Lucia
underwent psychological castration within the family and by people
within the clan, and that she was subjected to violence, and in fact she
was raped by her grandfather at the age of 12 during a period in which
he had assumed the role of father, Sun afflicted by the male-sexual
planets in Capricorn in the fourth house, following the mother’s
separation from her husband. He was her grandfather on her mother’s side
(Mars in Pisces exaltation of the Moon, Sun in the fourth,
co-significant Cancer, housing the Moon). She was doubly abused:
physically, but also psychologically, given that she was forced to keep
it secret (Mars in the eighth opposed to the ruling planet of the house)
both from the family and the wider clan. The recovery of Mars is
provided by the sextile that it forms with Venus, which reflects her
beauty and the immediacy with which she succeeds in getting close to the
opposite sex. The sextile of Mars and the trigon of Pluto that is formed
with M.C. and with Saturn represent Lucia’s determination and courage to
achieve her goals; so much so that by the age of 20 she was already
working for herself and living on her own. Her emotional life began at
twenty when she met a boy who exuded sweetness and love and, in this
way, she confronted her own sexuality, which for the first six months
proved unsatisfying because she couldn’t achieve an orgasm, and
therefore felt no pleasure: she felt blocked and experienced sexual
relations only with anxiety. Her patience, Mars sextile to Saturn, and
the sensitivity of her partner, allowed her to overcome this block and
to change her attitude to sexual relations, Mars trigon to Neptune:
indeed it pushed her to the other extreme: she found herself
experiencing an orgasm and feeling pleasure, Pluto in trigon to Venus
and the Moon in Pisces, and she wanted to do it often, so often that the
partner began to refuse because he couldn’t keep up the pace. Lucia felt
herself rejected and became locked up within herself, once more refusing
sex. |
